Women's Group Programme
WellStop provides support and education for women who have a partner or family member who has sexually offended. Usually the offender will be in the WellStop treatment programme. However, this support also extends to women whose partner or family member is not in treatment. The Women's Group meets for 1½ hours, one weekday morning, and the programme includes:
Understanding Sexual Abuse and its ImpactFamily Safety
Identifying Personal Strengths
Self Care, Support and Healing
Family Work
The Family Worker supports partners, mothers and other family members of WellStop clients. This includes the drawing up of Family safety plans, facilitating the weekly Women's Group and providing advice to other relevant agencies in the region. These result in families being better informed about sexual abuse issues and family safety. It also benefits our communities, with increased awareness of the work WellStop does and the knowledge that we are available for referrals from whanau and others to our agency. NOTE: All adult clients must identify at least one family member or support person who is willing to be in contact with WellStop and the client throughout the duration of their therapy. WellStop staff will be able to discuss this at the time of referral.
You can speak to the Adult Programme Team Leader to discuss any questions you might have or contact us on (04) 566-4745.
