Aims of the Adult and Family Programme
The WellStop Adult and Family programme has three main aims:
- To provide people who have sexually abused with the skills to stop offending and build more positive lives.
- To ensure the safety of the child victims. The safety of victims is paramount in all our work.
- To support the families of those who abuse, to help them deal with the effects of the abusive behaviour and to make informed choices.
The programme is set up to provide treatment for men who have been sexually abusive and who are ready to do something about stopping their abusive behaviour. Through working with these men, WellStop operates to protect children and other potential victims of sexual abuse.
Referral to the Adult and Family Programme
Referrals to the adult team may be made by the client, or via the Courts, Department of Corrections, CYFS, Police, other professionals, or family. All family or self referrals need to be funded. We welcome queries from anyone who has concerns about their own sexually abusive behaviours or if you have found out that someone close to you has been sexually abusive.
You can contact the Adult Programme Team Leader to discuss any questions you might have about the referral process. When you make a referral you will be asked about the behaviour that is concerning you, as well as information that we will need in order to arrange an assessment.
