About the Youth Programme
At WellStop we provide assessment and a range of treatment services to young people who have engaged in sexually harmful/ abusive behaviour. Some have been sexually abused themselves, but most have not. The programme aims to change their behaviour so they are able to go on and live a healthy life in the community. Working with the families of young offenders to support this change is an extremely important part of the programme.
Our services include:
- Programmes for young people (male and female) aged 13-17 years.
- Programmes for young people (male and female) who have cognitive or learning disabilities.
- Treatment will involve working closely with the young person's family or whanau to help them to respond appropriately to the behaviour.
- Treatment will focus on building on strengths within the young person and their family or whanau.
- Treatment may involve working with key people in the young person's life (e.g. school, if the behaviour is occurring in this context) Click here for Youth Programme Pamphlet.
