About the Children's Programme
The WellStop Children's programme is for children aged 5-12 years who have sexualised behaviours and their families. Helping children and their families make safe choices is an extremely important part of this programme.
At WellStop we provide assessment and a range of treatment services to children who have engaged in sexualised behaviour. Treatment will involve working closely with the child's family or whanau to help them to respond appropriately to the behaviour. Click here for Children's Programme Pamphlet
- Treatment will focus on building on strengths within the child and their family.
- Treatment may involve working with key people at the child's school (especially if the behaviour is occurring in this context)
- Therapy with children will involve a range of methods including play therapy, art and drama therapy.
Programme Goals
- That the child will stop their sexualised behaviour and will learn appropriate safe behaviour.
- That the adults supporting the child (family, whanau, caregivers, teachers) will learn ways to deal with the sexualised behaviour and to encourage appropriate behaviour.
- That the adults supporting the child will learn to establish safe environments for the child.
- That other family concerns will be dealt with holistically.
